Mahindra Powerol 1010 kVA & 1250 kVA DG set
Mahindra’s biggest diesel generators sit in the 1000 kVA class. The two models share one 30.5-litre Perkins engine, one frame and one canopy, but they are built for different jobs. Read the rating before you read the number.
- Prime · unlimited hours
- 1010
- kVA · 4008-30TAG2 · 1,208 BHP
- Standby · 500 h a year
- 1250
- kVA · 4008-30TAG3 · 1,481 BHP

Quick answer
- 1010 kVA (M1010DR) is a prime rating: unlimited hours at an 80% average load.
- 1250 kVA (M1250DR) is a standby rating: up to 500 hours a year, no overload.
- Both use a Perkins 4008-30 engine: 8 cylinders in-line, 30.5 litres, 1500 rpm.
- Canopied size: 6900 × 2440 × 2750 mm; weight about 10.9–11.3 tonnes.
- Fuel tank: 990 L (integrated canopy) or 905 L (cap-on canopy).
- Price, fuel use, noise and emission tier are not published by Mahindra.
What is the difference between the 1010 kVA and the 1250 kVA? Same engine block, 23% more power.
The power rises by almost a quarter while the weight rises by under 5%. That gap is what Mahindra means by “highest power to weight ratio”. The price of the extra power is the duty: the 1250 kVA rating holds for standby use only.
π/4 × 16² × 19 cm × 8 = 30,560 cc
We checked the brochure’s 30.5 L against its own bore and stroke. It adds up.
Which rating does your site need? Move the sliders to your load.
Prime means unlimited hours at an average of 80% of the rating, with 10% extra for one hour in every twelve. Standby means up to 500 hours a year at the same 80% average, and nothing above the rating.
Both ratings cover this.
The 1250 kVA standby gives the most headroom for backup. The 1010 kVA prime also keeps you covered if outages ever run past 500 hours a year.
Large motors draw several times their running load when they start. If you have lifts, chillers or pumps, work out your peak first with the load calculator.
How big is a 1000 kVA DG set? A 20-foot container with 842 mm added on.
The dashed outline is a standard 20-ft shipping container (6058 × 2438 mm). The integrated canopy matches its width almost exactly and stands 159 mm taller. Plan the crane, the plinth and the gate around 11 tonnes.
Both ratings share every dimension. Weights shown are 1010 kVA–1250 kVA. Fuel tank: 905 L cap-on, 990 L integrated. The open set has no tank figure in the brochure.

What is the 1000 kVA generator price? Four things to ask before you sign
- 1Emission tierNo CPCB tier is stated. Ask for the CPCB certificate for M1010DR or M1250DR specifically.
- 2Fuel consumptionNo litres-per-hour figure at any load. Ask for it at 50%, 75% and 100%.
- 3NoiseNo dB(A) figure for either canopy. Ask for the test report at 1 metre.
- 4PriceNone published. Ask for a quote with the canopy, panel and installation listed separately.

What is the price of a 1000 kVA generator in India?
Mahindra Powerol does not publish a price for its 1010 kVA (1000 kVA class) or 1250 kVA DG sets. The final price depends on the canopy (open, integrated or cap-on), the panel, the controller options and installation. Ask two or three sellers for a written quote with each of these listed separately; GensetPedia can help you get them on WhatsApp or email.
How much does a 1000 kVA generator weigh?
Mahindra's 1010 kVA set weighs 7,950 kg as an open set (wet), 10,860 kg with the integrated canopy and 10,900 kg with the cap-on canopy. The 1250 kVA version is 390–440 kg heavier.
What is the difference between the Mahindra Powerol 1010 kVA and 1250 kVA gensets?
Both use the same 30.5-litre, 8-cylinder Perkins 4008-30 engine and the same frame sizes. The 1010 kVA (M1010DR, engine 4008-30TAG2) is a prime rating for unlimited hours. The 1250 kVA (M1250DR, engine 4008-30TAG3, 1,481 BHP gross against 1,208) is a standby rating, limited to 500 hours a year with no overload.
Is the Mahindra 1250 kVA genset prime or standby?
Standby. Mahindra's brochure marks the 1250 kVA with an asterisk that points to its standby definition: up to 500 hours a year at an average 80% load factor, up to 300 hours of that continuously, and no overload.
Which engine does the Mahindra Powerol 1010 kVA genset use?
A Perkins India 4008-30TAG2: 8 cylinders in-line, turbocharged and aftercooled, 30.5 litres, 160 mm bore and 190 mm stroke, running at 1500 rpm with an electronic governor.
What size is a 1000 kVA DG set?
For Mahindra's 1010 kVA, the open set measures 4285 × 2205 × 2065 mm and weighs 7,950 kg wet. With the integrated canopy it is 6900 × 2440 × 2750 mm and 10,860 kg; with the cap-on canopy, 6900 × 2600 × 2750 mm and 10,900 kg.
Is the Mahindra 1010 kVA genset CPCB IV+ compliant?
The brochure does not state an emission tier, and it gives no fuel consumption or noise figures either. Ask the dealer for the CPCB certificate for the exact model before you order.
Compare it with other sizes on the compare tool, size your load with the load calculator, or see all Mahindra Powerol gensets.
